Cedar Lake, 805 acres, is known as the third largest natural water formation in the State of Indiana. It provides a wide variety of recreational activities such as boating, water skiing, tubing, fishing, and ice skating. Sunset Point is one of the latest condo developments on Cedar Lake.

Cedar Lake has been steadily increasing in population. It is located about 40 miles south of Chicago. The climate averages about 20 degrees in January, 72 degrees in July. The average snowfall is 39″ and average rainfall is 34″. The population of Cedar Lake is 10,211 (2006); the population of Lake County is 495,297 (2005).

There are many notable schools serving the area. Douglas MacArthur Elementary School is one of seven elementary schools located in the area. Taft Middle School is a large campus, offering tennis, track and numerous other sport opportunities. The Lowell High School and Crown Point High School are leading schools in Northwest Indiana for academics and athletics.
